Those mittens are beautiful and I would especially love to win the kits to make them. Cuckoos remind me of lazy Sunday afternoons spent at my grandparents’ house.

  2. Aubrey

Oh WOW! I just learned how to do stranded knitting! I am itching to try these out! Love love love! 🙂

  3. Carla in MT

oh!! and from one of my favorite stores! I love doing colorwork – & these would be so much fun!

  4. MsVicki

If I weren’t already nuts, this pattern would surely make me so!

But I’m already nutty enough to want to want to go there ;–)

  5. Alix

Exactly what my sister-in-law strongly hinted that she wants (by pointing at a picture and saying “Make these!”

  6. Arachknit

I’ve never made anything like these. What a fun project they’d be to knit! Thanks for the contest.

  7. Tara K

I have no business knitting mittens for the 3 days a year we need them here in Austin, but I want these with a fevered passion.

  8. Liz V

I feel like I’m missing a lot of my gloves and mittens from moving. This gives me a reason to knit all new ones!

  9. Reb

If I am lucky enough to be chosen, PLEASE do not tell my friend Kristin until I have the mittens done. This might not be for another winter or two . . .

  10. Dana Kashubeck

Love that pattern! I’ve been wanting to make some colorwork mittens for myself, now that I’ve finished FOUR PAIRS for Christmas presents.

  11. kelly-ann

I must have overlooked those mittens before…I love them! Off to see what else I missed in the current issue 🙂

  12. Dawn

Oh how funny is that? My sister would love these. She used to sit and watch for the cuckoos to come out of our German great-uncle’s cuckoo clocks when she was little. And they would keep her hands warm up in Wisconsin.

  13. tornadogrrrl

I’m catching up on reading the internet just in time to be able to put my name in for both of those lovely prizes.
    Fingers crossed!

  14. Anj

Count me in! I’m planning on knitting up some mittens for NaKniMitMo and I’d be more than happy to knit these. 🙂

  15. alwen

That reminds me of a song:

Cuckoo, Cuckoo sings from the wood. Let us be singing, let us be dancing,
Springtime, springtime soon will be here.

  16. littlerockstar

Oh my, how adorable. I’m also certain knitting with a yarn from the Loopy Ewe would be like butter.

  17. Elena

I’ve never knitted mittens, and after I have finished my first pair of socks that would be a great challenge 🙂

  18. Jennifer Hill

It’s colourwork! Of course, I want it! Lovely yarns, I’m sure & a chance to try a new yarn company.

  19. Angie

I really need some color work skills and this kit looks like it would definately get me some. Can’t have enough accessories for winter.

  20. G. K. Green

Mmm … mittens! Even though I’ve just finished two pairs, one cream and white double-knit and the other in Plymouth Encore Colorspun green-blue-purple gloriousness, I’d say that a third pair is what my needles need next!

  21. Sally Howard

Lovely patterns and colors. Just finished a colorwork hat and mittens would be handy for my twice daily walks.

  22. Chris

Sadly, it took me far too long to realize we’re not even close to the Wednesday deadline yet! Cute mitts!

  23. LPStarr

What beautiful and cute mittens, yet a challenge to knit. Plus, They would match my coat, too. The pattern is so crisp in that yarn.

  24. Kate

Those mittens are the cutest ever. And since it’ summer here in Australia, I would be able to knit them in time for winter! I’m working on a cute lacey scarf right now. 🙂

  25. cmspe (ravelry)

Hubby got me Latvian Mittens book for Christmas – LOVE all of the patterns, and glad to see that Knitty is fostering colorwork too! Colors are purrrrfect!

  26. Susanne

Oh what a lovely prize!! I sure hope I win, I would pick exactly those colours, my favourites…Thank you and all the best in 2011.

  27. christi

It is in the 20’s here, so I am in serious need of some gorgeous mittens to wear, and would love to wear THESE.

  28. JodyH

I’ve been wanting to give colorwork a try, and this looks like just the project to push me into it. Hope I win!

  29. Melanie

Thank you, Knitty, for this year-end bounty of contests. It’s a wonderful way to see a bit of what’s out there for sale on the Web!

  30. JohannaB

Ooh, ooh, pick me, pick me!

    Is that sufficient comment?

Seriously, I’m looking at all the beautiful stranded mittens I’m seeing around me and really craving a pair, just can’t decide on pattern/yarn. this would do it for me!

  31. Natalie M

I love these mittens and the colors are gorgeous! I just started working on my first fair isle project and i love it!

Those wouldn’t be warm enough for me right now, but when Spring comes around, I always wish I had a pair of mittens more appropriate for less extreme weather – then, they’d be perfect!

  34. Kristin

I’ve always wanted to try colorwork. Can’t think of a better way to get started than with these adorable mitts! Happy New Year to all…

  35. Corrie Habib

Cute mitts–have never done something with so much color/pattern…would be a great new challenge!

  36. Susan

my twenty-something daughter doesn’t wear gloves– but now– maybe because there’s two feet of snow in Brooklyn– she might wear these…!

  37. Liz

I love it!! Cukoo mittens for the cukooo crazy weather in the Northeast! Thank you for more winter fun from Knitty!!

  38. Leann Orr

I had a college suite mate from Finland years ago and this mitten pattern reminds me of her knitting a similar style that her Grandmother had taught her. She knitted them without a pattern! I would love to win this pattern and enjoyed remembering watching Mariana knit!

  39. Laura Love

These are GORGEOUS! I have been wanting to make something like this for years, but have only recently ventured out of the safety zone known as Scarf world and Poncho Land.

  40. trash

Man! Those look scarey. If this prize were to come to my house it would definitely be my uber-challenge 2011.

  41. Brittney W

Please, please, please, let me get what I want. Let me get what I want…this time!

…Which happens to be these mittens.

  42. Liselotte

What I lovely pair of mittens – I would love to make them – and they will be very usefull here in snowy Denmark

  43. Teri S.

I seem to be on a mitten jag now, having finally finished the 2nd mitten started during the Knitting Olympics and starting to dream of designing a pair of mittens for my niece.

  44. Mrs. Zehn

On my 2011 list is to learn to knit with more than one colour at a time. I’m sure the Cuckoo Mittens would send me around the bend…but it’s usually like me to get in over my head 🙂

  45. Ren Hazelman

So is it bad that when I hear cuckoo, I think of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest? Although might make for an interesting set of hat and mittens 🙂

  46. Purl Bickersticks

L O V E these mittens! I haven’t done colorwork before, and have been wanting to give it a go, and this would be the perfect start!

  47. Kandy

If I win these, it will definitely challenge my skills! Haven’t tackled that two-color knitting thing yet!

  48. Peggy

Too cute! I’d missed some of the details when galcnig at these earlier. And I’m still finishing up Christmas gifts for friends–definitely going on the list.

  49. Jan

Adorable mittens. It would be hard to decide who to give them to if I make them. I might have to keep them for myself!

  50. Grassroots

This is the first year I’ve actually wanted to wear a pair of mittens – maybe these are THE ones!

  51. Cathy

My daughter would die to have these mittens. She’s a fibers major in college and has never done any stranded knitting but these would motivate her to try it.

  52. Kirsi-Marja

Just funny and nice mittens 🙂 My younger son (6 yrs) informed that he wants these in black and white. 🙂

  53. Tan

I am terrified about being asked a skill-testing question, but bravely stepping into the fray. Or the unravel. Whatever.

  54. Patty Premovich

I wanted to do mittens like these for a long time and maybe this kit will be just motivation to finally do it.

  55. Joan

My New Year Knitting resolution is to learn some new techniques and to do color work. This pattern should offer some challenges.

  56. Kendall

I was just about to cast on a pair of colorwork mittens…but this pattern is way more fun than the one I was looking at!

  57. Susan Jordan

These are precious mittens. I’d love to make them. Any good sources I can go to for learning to knit with different colors?

  58. Joelle

Such pretty mittens! I was going to try the Eunny (Anemoi) ones in Red and White this winter – to match my new red (not knit – ::cringe:: – but very stylin’) newsboy hat. These…these could work!

  59. Rochonne Simons

I haven’t tried mittens with this much of a challenge yet but this looks like a great project to tackle. Maybe I’ll win!

  60. Devani

neat! I really want to try colorwork and this would be a fun and mind-challenging project. Thanks, knitty!

  61. Kate

Oh! I had just decided that a friend of mine definitely deserves a pair of these for an adorable and whimsical post-Christmas pick-up. 🙂

  62. Kimberly

I think my daughter would like these, but I think with the fair isle she probably wont get them until next winter.

  63. Rachel Leonard

I would love to learn color working like this! I’ve never tried it before, but I really interested in giving it a try.
