It’s Friday and We Have a Lucy Neatby Giveaway!

I don’t know about you, but my week has been crazy! I have never been happier to see Friday.

To make your Friday happier Lucy Neatby has donated 5 of her on-line videos as prizes for today’s giveaway!

Four of Lucy's sixteen videos. She keeps busy!
Four of Lucy’s sixteen videos. She keeps busy!

5 lucky KnittyBlog readers will win 1 on-line video of their choice from Lucy’s collection of 16 videos.

To receive your prize you will have to register and set up at Notebook (which is free) at

Regular contest rules: leave a comment on this post between now and midnight eastern time, Tuesday February 5th. Five comments will be chosen at random to answer a skill testing question. If the commenter answers correctly they will win one prize. Prize value, $19.99 each.

Happy Friday!

Oh, that’s awesome! I happen to be borrowing the first 2 dvds from the library because I had heard such good things about them, and am thinking about purchasing them. Glad that this online format is now available!

  2. Catrina

Wow, what a great prize! I’m sure there’s a few UFO’s in my basket that could benefit from me learning some new skills.

  3. Jen

  4. Carolyn Frank

I would love to win one of these DVDs…I really need help with my knitting, I knit way to loose. I just knit a beautiful sweater was on guage the entire time, washed and blocked the sweater and it is now to big…maybe these DVD’s can help with this problem. I will also go to her website and check out the DVDs to purchase.

I love Lucy! I took a couple of classes from her a few years back, knitted one of her sock patterns 10+ years ago (and am still wearing those awesome socks) and really like her whole outlook on knitting! A modern EZ!

  6. MzTallulah

Great news! I was just yesterday wathing Lucy’s YouTube video for a provisional cast-on (unbeatable!), and thinking what a great teacher she must be. Thank you Knitty and Lucy ofr the giveaway!

I’ve heard good things about these! And I have learned SO much about knitting from various videos, after struggling to learn from books for years!

  11. Carolyn

Just reading the comments makes me want to check out the videos right away! Sounds like a really valuable learning tool.

  12. Katherine

Spectacular idea! I’m such a fan of having digital access or formats for things that would otherwise have to live on the tiny shared bookshelf (living in an apartment with three other people has it’s challenges, mostly related to space). That Lucy Neatby, always ahead of the curve!

  13. Kay April

Just registered and when I clicked on the You Tube link, I was amazed at the videos available. Wowee wow wow.

  14. Jen

How awesome. I have several of Lucy’s DVDs and they are the best references I have for unusual techniques. Love that they are available online now.

  15. Kathy

Lucy Neatby is so talented. I love her creations, and I have two of her videos. I’d love another one!

  16. Emily

I love Lucy Neatby! I was lucky to take a double-knitting class from her when she stopped by my lys a couple years ago and have since made several of her patterns. Such a fabulous teacher!

  17. Savannagal

I registered on Lucy’s website. Problem is, I don’t have a tablet or reader. Just my old fashioned PC.

  18. Carrie

I have always wanted to watch one of her videos. Love that she is moving to an online format. Thanks for letting us know!

  19. Jodie G

I would love to win something like this, but would have a hard time choosing as they all look wonderful.

  20. Knittingdancer (Teresa)

  21. Leah

That’s fabulous! Since I’m in Australia, postage from overseas doesn’t come cheap. Downloadable resources are a great way to go. Off to visit Lucy Neatby’s site…

  22. Quinn

What a sweet giveaway! And I’m glad to know about Lucy’s website and the notebook feature…til now, I’ve only seen the YouTube videos.
    Thanks, Lucy and Knitty!

Am I the only one excited about a skill testing question??? And Lucy Neatby’s teaching. Both sound like fun.

  27. Janice

What a great birthday present that would be! (at least it would make turning 4mumble8mumble a little easier to take) 😉

  28. Zaelia Blue

I only just heard of Lucy the other day, and I keep bumping into her. I would love the opportunity to become more acquainted with her.

  29. Josiane

I remember reading good things about her videos, so it’d be great to get access to one of them and soak up the knowledge she generously shares in there!

  30. Elizabeth

Lucy Neatby is just simply wonderful. Her videos are great for both beginning and experienced knitters. Glad to read that she has a online version now. Thanks.

  31. Alene

One of the best things about knitting is that there is always something new to learn. And now a new way to learn!

  32. Renee

I got to have a session with Lucy in person and it was awesome. I’d love to have a video as well!

  33. Crystal

I was just drooling over her videos last night. I’d also love to eventually get them for my 2 nieces who are learning to knit.

  34. sandyharsh

I love her DVD’s and I’m keeping my finger’s crossed that I’m lucky enough to win an on-line version!

  35. Lynda

I have only 2 of Lucy’s Spectacular videos. I’m sure these are so full of info! and in digital form! Whooo hoooo!

  36. Rebecca

Excellent giveaway. I borrowed one of her videos from the library and learned some tips that changed my knitting life.

  37. Beverly

I’d love to win! It’s nice that the choice of video is left up to the recipient. I don’t need a knitting basics, but some of her Knitting Gems or Finesse Your Knitting videos look like they contain valuable information!

  38. G.K. Green

Please enter me in the giveaway! My comment is that “Double Knitting Delight” is one of the very best instructional knitting DVDs ever, and I highly recommend its purchase if you want to master the technique … 8^) [This has been an unsolicited rave; I now return you to your original giveaway-comments entries.]

  39. Amanda

This would perk my weekend up – spent the week with an upper respiratory infection and an endless baby blanket >.<

  40. Jamie Trask

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Lucy Neatby video, but they sound very helpful! There are several techniques that I’ve been a little shy about trying. A video would be really nice!

  41. Nikki

I’ve heard Lucy’s videos are wonderful! It would be great to see one and experience how great they are.

  42. Christine

Videos are the only way I can learn!! I have to see someone DO what I’m trying to accomplish. Would love to win one – Thanks!

  43. Marti

Lucy’s videos are the best. I’d love every single one of them, but I’d be super happy to have just one. Thanks for the contest.

  44. Karen Van Raden

I just bought a mini-series of Lucy’s for a knitting program on my iPad. It would be wonderful to win any of her DVD lessons!

  45. Sue N

How Fabulous! I’ve just been watching the sock DVD and it is Astonishingly Good. I’ve finally learnt the two circular needle technique. Thanks Lucy!

  46. Susan

I have learned a lot from her video Knitting Gems 2. She’s very clear, makes it easy to learn new techniques. I have bought her new one for beginners for my sister’s birthday – she just started knitting. Would love to try another video of hers.
    Happy knitting,

  47. Patt

I have been wanting to try a DVD by Lucy, but haven’t taken the plunge. Maybe I’ll be one of the lucky 5 and then I’ll have to buy the rest of the set. I can always learn something.

  48. Kristy

I’ve never seen these before, but from the other comments it sounds like they’d be really helpful for learning new techniques! Thanks for the chance, Knitty 🙂

  49. Lynn

The local public library only has a couple of her DVD’s – they were really informative, even the one on a technique I’m not much interested in. Worth it, but I haven’t found them for purchase at any local yarn shops – online would be great!

  50. Cathy B

I must admit I’ve never watched a knitting DVD. This sounds very interesting. Thanks for the opportunity.

  51. marrinan55

I first saw Lucy’s wares at MI Fiber Festival and would love to have a video to learn more about the techniques she uses in her patterns. Beautiful!

  52. Sally Vourlojianis

Borrowed a few of these DVDs – fabulous! Shakin’ in my shoes about the skill questions. I’m more of a wannabe knitter than a real knitter

  53. LindaR.

Would love to win one, though narrowing down the choices would be very challenging! Thanks for so many chances!

  54. Rannveig

Would love to win, the only knitting videos I’ve tried are free ones at youtube and I’d love to try something more comprehensive.

  55. Mel

I haven’t heard of Lucy before, so thanks for the introduction. I’m an internet/pseduo self taught knitter so I can imagine how helpful these would be!

  56. Klara Herceg

Let me jump into your giveaway-lotterie too! I World be happy to win a DVD from Lucy Neatby!
