Jillian’s Spinning: Spinzilla and Rhinebeck

The spinning fates smiled on me this past week (plus I left my house extra messy) because I hit my Spinzilla goal – one pound spun!

It feels good to hit a spinning goal and it reminds me once again how much I can spin if I just sit down and do it. I can’t wait to knit that big skein of 2-ply into something huge and scarf-ish for the cold to come. How did you do on your Spinzilla goals?

Are you going to Rhinebeck? I’m not this year, but I want to hear about what you are going to do and what you’re going to buy. Let me live vicariously through you.

She kinda loves this spinning thing and wants everyone who spins to love it too, so she teaches and writes a lot. She knits, weaves, and stitches and tries to do as much of it as she can with handspun yarn. She's always cooking up all kinds of exciting and creative things combining fiber arts. She likes her mysteries British, her walks woodsy, and to spend as much time as she can laughing. Spy on her on her website jillianmoreno.com

i doubled my yardage from last year! 7,000 yards which was 2.7 lbs. not bad for having a full time job (and i am picking up the pieces at home this week too).

i don’t think they would be happy about me taking time off at Schacht since it is such a busy week. although i am still trying to convince them for next year. 🙂

your yarn looks gorgeous! congrats on making your goal. i look forward to seeing what you do with it.

I did not hit my Spinzilla goal, however – the yarn I spun was a marked improvement in both spinning and plying.

It will not be a Rhinebeck year for me either, however – I have knit 2 shawls as samples for Ross Farm Fibers booth! They will be there representing for me!

I’m heading to Rhinebeck in the morning – dyeing workshop on Thursday, spinning workshop Saturday afternoon. I don’t need a single thing, so no idea what I might end up buying. Perhaps some beautiful tools, as I surely don’t need yarn or fiber.
